Classes

I am currently teaching the following classes at Fourth Corner Quilts in Bellingham:

Beginning Quilting - Starts February 16, 2012 for four weeks

Learn the fundamentals of quilt making in this four part evening class. We'll cover fabric selection, rotary cutting techniques, piecing, creating blocks, quilt top assembly, adding borders, making a quilt sandwich, machine quilting and binding. When you're finished you'll have the basics covered and a table runner to show for it!

Basic Machine Quilting - March 3, 2012

In this class Jo will cover the basics of machine quilting. You will learn how to use a walking foot to stitch in the ditch as well as how to use a darning foot to do free motion quilting. You will learn several methods to mark a quilt and how to use pre-cut stencils and tissue paper. Jo will discuss the use of various types of thread, needles and batting. What are you waiting for, finish all those UFO's!

Thread Painting - January 21, 2012

Join Jo to learn how to do free motion quilting as the primary design element of your quilt. For ease of starting, we will use materials that will guarantee your success! You are welcome to bring photos of your own, or any copyright free material, or use one of Jo's just to get you started. Keep it simple with easy shapes and about 3-6 colors. You will need to have some experience in how to do basic free motion quilting and have a sewing machine and accessories capable of doing free motion. Come with an open mind and freedom to play!
